Hi, I’m Dana Roșu, a self-taught contemporary artist based in Cologne, Germany.
My journey into art began as a personal exploration. What started as curiosity soon became a way of reconnecting with myself, understanding the world around me, and expressing experiences that are often difficult to put into words. Painting has taught me to trust my intuition, embrace uncertainty, and appreciate the beauty that emerges when structure and spontaneity meet.

Through acrylic and mixed-media paintings, I explore themes of connection, transformation, nature, and shared humanity. My work is inspired by sacred geometry, mandalas, natural patterns, and the invisible threads that link us to ourselves, to one another, and to the world we inhabit. I am fascinated by the balance between order and flow, individuality and belonging, permanence and change.

Each painting begins with a question rather than an answer. I rarely know exactly where a piece will lead me. Instead, I follow the process layer by layer, allowing the work to reveal itself over time. In many ways, my paintings mirror life itself: an ongoing journey of discovery, growth, and transformation.

Growing up in Romania, I absorbed a culture built around cycles: seasonal rituals, folk patterns, the sense of interconnectedness. Leaving that and building a life in Germany made me think harder about what stays the same across different places and backgrounds. Later I found myself drawn to Buddhist, Hindu and Hermetic ideas, not as doctrine but because they kept pointing to the same thing: that separation is an illusion. Personal challenges and inner work further strengthened my awareness of connection, between people, but also between body, environment, and cosmos. The mandala kept appearing because it holds that idea structurally. But I’m less interested in stating unity and more in inviting viewers to sense it intuitively, even briefly.
My recent Nature Series reflects a growing desire to listen more deeply to intuition and to learn from the wisdom of the natural world. Whether inspired by the resilience of a ginkgo tree, the freedom of a dandelion, or the intricate interconnectedness found in nature, each work carries a story and an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
My hope is that my art creates a space where viewers can slow down, encounter their own thoughts and emotions, and perhaps recognize something familiar within themselves. If my work inspires even a moment of reflection, connection, or wonder, then it has fulfilled its purpose.
Thank you for being here and for taking the time to explore my world.
